Mernda Villages

MDG have been responsible for the design and implementation of the latter stages of Stockland's master planned residential community in Mernda. The majority of parks are strategically positioned on hilltops, creating open spaces that offer a strong relationship with the site, capitalising on distant views and retaining significant vegetation. A consistent palette of materials including rock gabion walls and unadorned raw timbers repeat throughout each park. Structures have been conceived as singular slatted timber entities, arranged as an assertive portal frame focusing dramatic views and offering a protected, internalised space akin to an alfresco lounge.

Awarded the UDIA 2014 Masterplanned Development Award and the 2019 Excellence in Timber Design Award.
